60. But when in another passage we read: I came out from the Father, and have come into the world; again, I leave the world, and go to the Father, John 16:28 how does He go, except through death, and how comes He, save by rising again? Exposition of the Christian Faith, by Saint Ambrose
Christ is Risen!
Beloved Christians, how could the Apostles possibly imagine or understand the subtle ,and yet at other times, not so subtle message concerning our Saviour’s betrayal, Passion, entombment, and Resurrection? We can only imagine with awe at what that moment must have been like for the Apostles – that “A-ha” moment when they put all of these things together. Such joy, hope, and peace of soul! After the Resurrection many things the Master said became clear. With the descent of the All-holy Spirit on Pentecost, ALL THINGS were made clear to the Apostles.
“Let us purify our senses and we shall behold Christ, radiant with the unapproachable light of the Resurrection, and we shall clearly hear Him say: Rejoice! as we sing the triumphal hymn.”
“David, the ancestor of our God, danced with leaping before the symbolical Ark of the Covenant. Let us also, the holy people of God, beholding the fulfilment of the symbols, rejoice in godly wise: For Christ is risen, as omnipotent. ”
We too are enlightened! In the Resurrection of Christ, all things are made known. The Shadow of the Law is cast away and the hidden things are made revealed.
