“The soldiers standing guard at Thy tomb, O my Saviour, * became as dead on seeing the lightning-like angel, * who preached to the women of Thine arising, O Holy Lord: * Thee we glorify, Who hast abolished corruption; * Thee do we adore, Who from the grave hast arisen * and Who alone art our God”
The Saviour, the Light of the world Who was born in a cave, was lain in the cave after His awesome Passion; and from a cave hath dawned forth the unwaning light of the Resurrection!
“How much more beautiful than paradise, and truly more resplendent than any royal palace proved Thy grave, the source of our resurrection, O Christ!”
Beloved, as you Cross yourself, praising the All-Holy Trinity, behold the cave formed with your fourth and fifth fingers. Ever remember and rejoice in the Saviour’s life-giving Resurrection.
